For over four decades Sir Paul Altman has combined two of his passions – real estate development and the conservation of Barbados’ heritage – to create lasting edifices on the physical landscape and cultural psyche of Barbados.
As the C.E.O. of Altman Real Estate,he has significantly helped to set the tone for Barbados’ luxury residential market through development of:
Sir Paul is a Past President of the Barbados National Trust and is currently involved in urban renewal programs across the island. The restoration of the Synagogue Historic District, which dates back to 1654, was led by Sir Paul and his family. This restoration highlights one example of his commitment to maintaining the heritage of Barbados.
Sir Paul is involved in a number of charitable endeavours: he is Chairman of the Barbados Community Foundation; and he is a Trustee of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, Barbados.

In 2016, Sir Paul was honoured with the title of Knight Bachelor, as part of the British Honours System, for services to the preservation of historic buildings and real estate development.
Sir Paul holds a BBA from the University of Miami and was awarded an
honorary Doctor of Laws by the University of the West Indies.
He is married to artist Rachelle Altman and they are the parents of two daughters.
