Melanie King is a Shareholder and a Director of Altman Real Estate. She is also a Real Estate Agent and provides an interior design service for clients in Barbados and, most recently, St. Lucia. Melanie has over thirty years of experience in the Real Estate Industry, with experience in concierge, property management, property consulting, sales and interior design. She also served as President of the Barbados Estate Agents and Valuers Association (BEAVA) for two terms.
Melanie was one of the first women in Barbados to be involved in real estate sales. During her career in the industry she has been closely involved with developments such as the Sandy Lane Estate, the Port St. Charles Marina, Sugar Hill Resort and more recently, the Apes Hill Club and the Limegrove Lifestyle Centre.
Born in Barbados and educated in the United Kingdom. Melanie is an avid animal lover and enjoys travelling. She shares her St. James home with her husband, her two Golden Retrievers and when he takes a break from his studies in London, her son.
Educated in Barbados and the United Kingdom, Pooka Yhap began her career in the insurance industry – dedicating twenty-five years of service. During this time, she honed her skills in delivering exceptional customer service and rose to the position of Manager, Sagicor Head Office Administrative Services. She joined Altman Real Estate in 2003, initially working in sales administration and event planning. In 2007, Pooka was given the opportunity to join Altman's sales team and became a Real Estate Agent. She enjoys meeting clients, making their wishes come true and forming lasting friendships. Pooka is also an active member of the Board of the Barbados Estate Agents & Valuers Association (BEAVA).
Pooka is the President of the Barbados chapter of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA), a charitable organization to which she has dedicated many years of service. Pooka also has a special love for music and dance and is equally passionate about gardening. She believes we should all leave a smaller carbon footprint on the world, but a lasting contribution to its well-being.
With over twenty years in the field of Luxury Sales and Management, Janeace joined the Altman Group in October 2014 as the company’s Head of Sales.
Janeace holds of Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Media Communication from Goldsmiths College, University of London. Before joining the Altman team, Janeace was the General Manager of Barbados’ first ever Louis Vuitton store, which she managed successfully for three years. She also served as a manager with Yves Saint Laurent.
When Janeace is not working, she enjoys socializing and spending quality time with her daughter.
Michelle joined the Altman Real Estate team in 1999 as a Marketing Manager and eventually became a Real Estate Agent in 2004. She was recently promoted to the position of Manager of the Limegrove branch and continues to be an active member of the sales team.
Michelle has more than twenty years of experience in the local Real Estate industry. Her career began at Royal Westmoreland, where she worked in Sales Administration and Real Estate sales. She is also a member of the Barbados Estate Agents and Valuers Association (BEAVA).
A fitness enthusiast, Michelle enjoys staying in shape, believing that a clear mind and a healthy body are important for all aspects of life. Her other interests include photography, traveling and cooking.
Sir Paul Altman has been involved in the real estate profession for over thirty years. He is the Managing Director of Altman Real Estate, the Caribbean’s leading Real Estate Company, and Ambassador and Chairman of the Savills Caribbean Associates. He has been at the forefront of developments in Barbados’ luxury residential market: he was among those instrumental in the establishment of the Royal Westmoreland golf residential community; led the development of the highly successful Sugar Hill Resort; and helped to set the tone for resort communities in Barbados on a whole. He is at the helm of the development of the Limegrove Lifestyle Centre, Barbados’ first mixed-use centre. Limegrove’s commercial aspect comprises close to one hundred tenants, including: restaurants, offices, cinemas and some of the world’s leading fashion brands; the residential component is ongoing.
Sir Paul is involved in urban renewal programs in Speightstown, Holetown and Bridgetown. He is a Past President of the Barbados National Trust and led the development of two museums which are both linked to the Trust, the Nidhe Israel Museum in Bridgetown and Arlington Museum in Speightstown.
The restoration of the Nidhe Israel Synagogue in Bridgetown, originally built in 1654, was led by Sir Paul and his family. It represents the highlight of his involvement in maintaining the heritage of Barbados. This project is currently undergoing its final phase of development, which will complete an entire city block and also spearhead a number of projects with which he is involved under the UNESCO World Heritage Designation for Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison.
Sir Paul serves as a Director of a number of listed Barbadian and offshore companies. He is Chairman of the Barbados Community Foundation, a private charity, and is a Justice of the Peace. Sir Paul is also a Trustee of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Barbados. In 2013 he was presented with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal by Barbados’ Governor General, Sir Elliot Belgrave, for his service to the award scheme and to the Barbados Youth Business Trust.
In 2000 Sir Paul was honoured by the Barbadian Government with a Centennial Honour and seven years later he was awarded the Government’s Gold Crown of Merit in recognition of his contribution to the development of Barbados’ tourism and the preservation of the island’s heritage.
Sir Paul was presented with the University of the West Indies’ Caribbean Luminary Award in January, 2008 and inducted into The University of the West Indies Chancellor’s Circle in July of that year. In 2010, he was selected to serve as the Chairman of the Campus Council at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus.
Due to his long association with the arts, Sir Paul was appointed to the Board of the National Art Gallery in March 2011.
In 2016, he was honoured with the title of Knight Bachelor, as part of the British Honours System, for services to the preservation of historic buildings and real estate development.
Sir Paul also holds a BBA from the University of Miami and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree, by the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, in 2009. He is married to artist Rachelle Altman and they are the parents of two daughters, Rina and Abigail.
Terry Hanton is a Chartered Accountant who specialises in consultancy services to the real estate and hospitality sectors. He is also a member and accredited valuer of the Barbados Estate Agents & Valuers Association (BEAVA), and previously held the position of Vice-President of this Organization. Terry has over 10 years of experience in conducting valuations for residential and commercial properties. From 1984 to 1996, he was the Finance Director of St. James Beach Hotels Plc., a Barbados based hotel group listed on the London and Barbados exchanges.
In addition to his role at Property Consultancy Services Inc., he is the Director of Sales of Altman Real Estate, which has allowed him to maintain an intimate knowledge of the real estate market. He is a past Director on the board of Needhams Point Holdings Ltd. as well as of several property development companies. He has conducted feasibility studies, market research projects and business valuations and has also provided project management, and property investment advice and financial and accounting services to a broad range of clients.

In 1993, after earning her Diploma in Business Administration from the Academy of Commerce in Barbados, Michele joined the Altman Real Estate family. She currently holds the title of Assistant Reservations Manager. As Assistant Manager, Michele enjoys dealing with a diverse range of villa rental clients and villa owners and believes that the most rewarding aspect of her role is helping visitors to plan for the perfect Barbados holiday. From finding the ideal villa to match their needs, to accommodating special requests to ensure that their Barbados vacation experience is fully customized - Michele leaves no stone unturned in providing guests with unforgettable stays. It’s clear that memorable vacations are exactly what they enjoy, as Michele has seen many clients return to Barbados, and to Altman villas, since joining the company over twenty years ago.
Away from the office Michele maintains a packed schedule as a mum of two girls. She also enjoys boating.

Lorraine Goodman has been a member of the Altman Real Estate family for over nineteen years. Educated in Barbados, she joined the company to lead the team in the Villa Rentals Department as the Reservations Manager and brought with her a wealth of experience from the tourism sector, including time at the prestigious Sandy Lane Hotel.
Since joining, Lorraine has guided the department in making clients’ dreams come true. She has personally arranged for many notable customers – including celebrities and royalty – to stay in Altman villas; they in turn have been impressed by her meticulous efficiency and professionalism. As an ambassador for Altman Real Estate, and for her country, Lorraine enjoys the excitement of this interaction with visitors to the island, noting that no two clients, or two days, are the same.
Outside of the office, Lorraine keeps busy as a mother of two and enjoys cycling in her spare time.
